Inspiration
Management games, classic browser games, and digital tests used by employers
The Aesthetic theme came off the back of EDF's presentation on energy usage, and Electric Square's "throwing" challenge, inspiring the balls of string
What it does
Controlled entirely by the mouse
intentionally difficult to control directly, but can be mastered with a few careful moves
How we built it
Originally built in PyGames, however start from scratch using Godot. Code done in GDScript, Godot's proprietary language
Assets were made using Asperities
Challenges we ran into
Having to pivot what language the project was done nearly halfway through, and starting from nothing. Draft phase went very well
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Operating with a reduced team size. A productive brainstorming phase. Persistence in the face unexpected difficulties
What we learned
Planning is crucial to having a smoothly run project. Strengths and weaknesses of EACH team member must be taken into account as early as possible in the development process
What's next for String Theory - A Management CatTastrophy
Polishing the 'game feel' of the application, so that the feedback is more satisfying to the user, thus encouraging better play
A simple scoring system, more detailed graphics, deeper UI etc.
