Inspiration
A lot of times we don't know how to pick ourselves up and just move on, and that's okay. But what's not okay is to neglect our feelings and think they might just go away. This app aims to lift people's mood and provide some mental help, while also bringing awareness to their feelings in the moment and over time.
What it does
stressLess prompts the user to do a daily reflection, and then using that reflection it does a sentiment analysis on their mood to see how the user is feeling. Based on the sentiment analysis score, it provides the user with a library of articles and/or helpful resources to lift their mood. It also save past reflections to track the user's journal entries and mood over time, monitoring their mental wellbeing in a very organized way.
How we built it
We build using flask for backend and html, css and javascript for frontend. We also used textBlob library for sentiment analysis and news api to gather fun articles.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into some difficulty connecting the backend to the frontend and testing endpoint for Flask.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We proud that we got the app to run and it uses sentiment analysis.
What we learned
We learned to use APIs and making an app that incorporates that both frontend and backend.
What's next for stressLess
In the future we hope to add a feature to connect the user with other community member who feeling similar and also connect the user with local therapists.
