Inspiration

Street food is an essential part of everyday culture, offering unique flavours, affordability, and a sense of community. However, many local street-food vendors lack digital visibility, making it difficult for people to discover authentic food spots nearby. Our team wanted to create a simple, accessible platform that highlights these hidden gems. This inspired us to build StreetBite, a clean and user-friendly web interface that helps users explore local flavours effortlessly.

What it does

StreetBite is a static website designed to help users discover and explore various street-food categories. The platform displays curated cards featuring different food items, short descriptions, and images. It gives users an easy way to browse and identify local dishes. We also included a static redirect card to Swiggy (as required by our instructor), allowing users to explore more food options externally

How we built it

We developed StreetBite using Base44, focusing on clean UI components and structured organization. The process involved:

Designing a simple homepage with visually appealing cards.

Adding category components and static pages.

Organizing assets and route files in Base44’s environment.

Ensuring the website is responsive and neat for academic demonstration.

Collaboratively dividing tasks among our three-member team for development, design, and documentation.

Challenges we ran into

Learning and adapting to Base44 for the first time.

Ensuring proper alignment, spacing, and component structuring within a short time.

Making the UI responsive and visually appealing without overcomplicating the design.

Understanding how Base44 handles routes, components, and assets. Despite these challenges, teamwork and continuous trial-and-error helped us move forward effectively.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully creating a clean and professional-looking static website.

Designing a smooth user interface with properly organized components.

Completing the entire project collaboratively within the given timeframe.

Implementing a functional demonstration of category cards and static pages.

Building our first end-to-end front-end project using Base44 from scratch.

What we learned

The fundamentals of Base44 and how component-based layouts work.

How to design and structure a static website with clean UI principles.

Effective teamwork, task division, and time management.

Handling project structure, routing, and assets efficiently.

Improving our understanding of web design, visual hierarchy, and responsiveness.

What's next for StreetBite

In the future, we hope to expand StreetBite by adding:

Dynamic vendor listings

Real-time location-based street-food discovery

User reviews and ratings

Vendor onboarding features

A searchable database of dishes

A fully functional mobile app version

These additions would help transform StreetBite into a complete digital hub for street-food exploration.
