Inspiration
Walking through the city, our team members have noticed two recurring issues—flickering streetlights and uneven sidewalks. These small problems add up, making urban spaces less safe and less efficient. Maintenance crews inspect these manually, often taking time to address these issues.
What it does
Our prototype is a proof-of-concept sensor system that detects flickering lights and bumpy sidewalks. By automating detection, cities can fix issues faster, improving lighting, accessibility, and walkability.
How we built it
Using the features of the Arduino Uno, along with a photoresistor, ultrasound sensor, and gyroscope.
Challenges we ran into
We did not have access to a motor or wheels, making the "roaming" part of the street roamer unfeasible at this stage.
What's next for Street Roamer S3000
This is a good framework, and the next steps would be to give it locomotion and cellular connectivity so it can upload data to our central dashboard.
