Street Listener

Inspiration

During the workshop we were quite annoyed at the constant squeaking of the rubber ducks, we later focused this annoyance to the general acoustic contamination prevalent in big cities like Barcelona, especially at night, which disturb the wildlife in the outskirts and neighbors in the center.

What it does

The app shows the feed of the webcam and writes the amount of people in the camera (updating each second) and the type of noise it detects.

How we built it

We used arduino app lab and other tools

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges we ran into was the camera stream not showing up, for some reason the camera address was being overwritten so it never properly worked. The fix is in the readme file at github

What's next for Street Listener

The next step is to get a better dataset to train our ai properly and scale the values to reflect the actually problematic levels of noise and people.
