Street Art Hunt — One-Pager
Inspiration
Date-Night Spark
- Text-only scavenger dropped three restaurant coupons to my phone.
- Zero app installs; me and the missus wandered parts of London we’d normally skip.
Graffiti Pivot
- I’m a street-art nerd.
- Swapped food clues for mural clues but kept the discount loop.
- Quick history blurbs keep the architecture fans happy.
What It Does
SMS-Only Scavenger Hunt
- Pay via Stripe → instant deep-link:
sms:+44...?&body=START-HUNT. - Entire game plays out via plain SMS—no WhatsApp, no apps.
- Each correct answer unlocks a micro-perk at an indie spot a minute away.
- Backend logs every answer + timestamp so we can spot friction and tweak clues fast.
Blog & UGC Flywheel
- Players upload mural photos, tag the spot; backend spins a mini-blog post.
- Best pic each week wins a free tour.
- Fresh posts boost SEO → more eyeballs → new players.
How We Built It
Lean Stack
- Supabase – routes, answers, partner offers, auto-blog CMS
- Twilio SMS – two-way clue messaging
- Stripe – one-click checkout
- Started in Nuxt; UI was rough → GPT generated React components in a weekend.
Data Edge
- Open03 scraped every indie business within a two-minute walk of each mural.
- Dedicated landing pages for every partner now rank for “<Partner Name> discount.”
Challenges We Ran Into
| Challenge | Fix |
|---|---|
| Nuxt UI looked stuck in 2009 | Swapped to GPT-built React |
| LLM token burn | Tight modular prompts + caching |
| Van blocking a key mural | Added backup clue + alt route |
| Owners unsure about offers | Showed live Google clicks + QR redemption plan |
Accomplishments We’re Proud Of
- MVP shipped in 48 hours—fully wired checkout and SMS flow.
- Partner pages are already on page 4 of Google after just three days (zero backlinks).
- First Brick Lane owners interested; offer discussions underway.
- UGC pipeline live—first test uploads tagged and blogged.
(No paying customers yet, and that’s fine—ranking this fast is win #1.)
What We Learned
- Ideas are free; finishing them takes sweat.
- SMS beats apps for friction-free experiences.
- AI’s the sous-chef; human taste still matters.
- Tracking every answer lets us iterate routes in real time.
- Hidden history + fresh art = repeat-worthy combo.
