Inspiration

We took inspiration from an industry source in the biodegradable fuels industry. The source explained to us that while large companies are mostly set up online already, smaller and medium companies tend to create and handle their invoices manually. This creates a problem, because every company develops a different template for their invoices, making it tedious to read data for online processing. We took inspiration from this problem, and developed a solution for it. We also developed a solution to the CBRE challenge. This solution uses genetic coding, a heuristic approach to solving our problem, because the problem they gave us can't be solved in polynomial time.

What it does

Our invoice processing software can process invoices and write the information to an excel file. Our building organizer software can find the optimal arrangement of teams to fit the most people in while honoring the most preferences possible.

How we built it

We built our software using python, using openCV and other free open source software.

Challenges we ran into

We originally wanted to create an application that used ai to scan for information automatically in any template. However, we found this challenge too daunting, since we don't have any AI experience, and decided to instead use a template system.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're incredibly proud of the fact that our original idea finished. We were so worried it wouldn't get done, we split the team into two, and created an entire code for the CBRE challenge just in case we didn't have enough time.

What we learned

That we need to challenge ourselves, because we can do much more than we expect.

What's next for Streamlined Excel Documents from Company Invoices

We plan on working on an invoice processing solution in which we don't need pre-made templates, saving loads of time for businesses with many suppliers.
