Inspiration

Suppose you have the budget to invite speakers to give talks in your research unit. By streaming the talk via youtube, the speaker's ideas could reach a much wider audience. If it is also be recorded and stored in an easily accessible place, it could then be accessed whenever needed. Imagine you're teaching a class. You're focusing on a particular theme, which has been developed by a specific scholar and/or discussed in a given seminar, and you have the possibility to show the seminar and discuss it together with your student. That could help a lot, wouldn't it?

Furthermore, what if you had the possibility to have other scholars joining your event remotely, without the need for travel? Such invitations would be beneficial not only for you and your team, but also especially for the wider research community if they are recorded and disseminated. This is obviously even more true if you happen to work in an institute that cannot afford to invite scholars or allow its students to travel and participate in events taking place somewhere else.

What it does

This project is conceived of as a platform for:

a) collecting audio-visual material (talks, seminars, lecture series, etc...) b) sharing links for the participation to events from remote c) having an overview of what's going on in your scientific community.

How I built it

Challenges I ran into

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We managed to host several talks and stimulate discussions across several countries

What's next for StreamGram

Grow and widen the spectrum research groups involved as well as exploit the technological tools to enhance the interaction
