Inspiration

Traditional video platforms rely on subscriptions or ads, leaving creators underpaid and viewers paying for content they don't fully consume. We wanted a fair, pay-per-second model powered by blockchain micropayments.

What it does

StreamArc is a pay-per-second video streaming platform where viewers pay only for the exact time they watch using x402 and USDC nanopayments on Arc. Creators earn in real time, receive tips, sell content ownership, and monetize every second of engagement.

How we built it

• Next.js 15 and TypeScript frontend
• Supabase for authentication and database
• Cloudflare Stream for video delivery
• Circle Developer-Controlled Wallets for user wallets
• Circle Gateway Nanopayments and x402 BatchFacilitatorClient for gasless settlements
• Arc Testnet for USDC payments
• Railway deployment with real-time payment tracking

Challenges we ran into

• Synchronizing video playback with per-second payment streaming.
• Building seamless wallet onboarding without seed phrases.
• Implementing instant deposits and withdrawals.
• Ensuring accurate revenue distribution and ownership transfers.

What we learned

We learned that blockchain micropayments can fundamentally change digital content monetization. By charging only for actual consumption, creators earn fairly while users avoid unnecessary subscriptions.

• Launch on Arc Mainnet.
• Expand creator onboarding and verification.
• Add live streaming with real-time nanopayments.
• Introduce AI-powered recommendations and moderation.
• Enable NFT-based premium content and decentralized content licensing.
