Inspiration
110,000 dogs are lost everyday. Many of us have seen these strays roaming the streets of LA, and as dog-lovers we had to help them.
What it does
The website allows people who've seen stray dogs to upload the dog's info (ex: color, city found in, name) and the shelter they called to rescue it. Owners who've lost their dogs can then go to our website and upload their lost dog's info (ex: color, city lost in, name). Then, using a data learning algorithm classification model, our webpage's algorithm searches and sorts the owner's inputted information to find the best matches of uploaded lost dogs' information.
How I built it
We built our website using HTML, CSS, and Photoshop
Challenges I ran into
Challenges we ran into included learning how to design our website with CSS because all of our members were completely new to this language. Examples would be like trying to make a search bar, or change button features.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Our team is proud of how much we managed to learn and build in one night despite being completely new to HTML and CSS. We're also proud of how our efforts brought us closer as a team while we hustled and collaborated throughout the night.
What I learned
We learned how to code HTML and CSS syntax and the features and possibilities these languages offer.
What's next for StrayPaws Website
We hope to expand StrayPaws to reach more cities, and maybe even more species of lost pets someday.
