Inspiration

Beauty of our world. My childhood dreams of life in travel that never came true.

What it does

It shows a cozy, relaxed life of two friends who were unhappy in society. But then they found each other and embarked on a grand journey together, leaving civilization behind and enjoying wonders of nature. They will never get back to their old life after experiencing so much joy and freedom - now they are forever stray.

How we built it

With passion and some really cool AI tech. I tried to imagine where I could go and what I could do if I had a healthy body and a partner with shared passion. All the moments of our travels that could make it special, all the things we could see and experience. And then I created main characters for this story, and put them into those environments and situations. After that I animated the scenes and combined everything in a way where either lyrics or general emotions of the song would translate into current scene, connecting into relaxing story of endless adventure shared with the kindred spirit.

Challenges we ran into

Weirdly enough, walking. It took most of my generations for it to look natural and not silly. Also, it took quite some time to design the characters and then place them naturally into so many variable environments, doing different tasks, and then also animate those images.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Certain scenes with a lot of motion and particles, like diving, or playing in the mud.

A lot of AI workflow.

What's next for Stray

Hopefully finding a way to share it with the world. Sadly, many places now forbid AI-generated content, but maybe being featured in Chroma will help.
