Inspiration
We just wanted to make something we would enjoy ourselves. With the goal of continuing it post Hackaton.
What it does
It is a real time strategy game. Where you're not the
How I built it
I built it by watching a bunch of tutorials and putting code together with spit and duct tape.
Challenges I ran into
Deciding on what to build. GameMaker free trial was a lie. Godot seemed like an engine you can't build big games on. Unreal engine was too much (and we wanted 2D instead of 3D). Unity has odd bugs. For instance, console can dissapear if you're on 2 monitors and somehow change the unity layout. Starting animation is absolutely not intuitive.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
C# didn't seem so scary.
What I learned
Calculating angles is harder than I anticipated. I thought C# called Dictionaries HashMaps, but they don't. Unity can be annoying at times.
What's next for StrategyGame
Making it playable as a sandbox. And later with a help of a friend perhaps even multiplayer.
