Inspiration

We were inspired by the drastic weather changes in Singapore recently and we got drenched on the way to school because we forgot our umbrella. On our way to school, we saw many people in the same dire state as we were and people were just waiting there at the MRT for the rain to stop. We were super driven to innovate a solution to help prevent such occurrences from happening again!

What it does

It allows users to check the weather for the day at the location they are at or schedule and plan ahead by checking the weather on the day that they plan to head out. Our Rain or Shine bot will also remind users to bring their umbrella or put sunscreen, depending on the weather.

How we built it

We were inspired by the Telegram Bot workshop and decided to adapt. We thought of new ways to innovate and improve the current existing bots, so as to increase convenience and efficiency.

Challenges we ran into

Initially, we did not know what our problem statement should be. We were thinking big scale, of ways to innovate but we realized that the most pressing issues may sometimes be the ones that we encounter everyday in our lives. Therefore, we decided to go with something simple but impactful. Additionally, we had some clashing schedules but each member contributed in their own ways, which made the project very worthwhile in spite of the difficulties faced.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We managed to finish the slides quite quickly, focusing more of our time on refining certain features of the bot. In general, in spite of clashing schedules, we were able to manage our time effectively and come up with our Rain or Shine bot.

What we learned

We learnt how to think out of the box and innovate to create solutions for pressing issues. We also learnt how to manage our other personal commitments and work together effectively.

What's next for StrangerDanger

We plan to continue exploring the coding realm and further our knowledge and create lasting and impactful solutions in the future using new knowledge that we gain.
