Inspiration
We were brainstorming ideas based on the given keywords of teens, family, and diversity. In the end, we focused more on young people as they are the most attractive target audience.
What it does
Within the bank's app, you log in every day and spin a roulette wheel. The wheel contains 3 types of prizes based on the user's transaction categories and the money they have in all their accounts.
How we built it
We used JavaScript, CSS, and HTML. In the JavaScript part, we made API calls to Strands to retrieve category and money data. Based on that, we made a call to the OpenAI API to get a personalized gift idea based on the user's top 2 transaction categories and 2% and 0.15% of their money.
Challenges we ran into
The team had a very low level of expertise with the languages we were going to use, and we had to learn almost from scratch. We also had never used an API before and had to learn by asking mentors and company representatives.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to work as a team where almost no one had participated in a hackathon before, and we were able to finish the work on time and with good feelings.
What we learned
We learned everything: teamwork, new languages, and how to use APIs.
What's next for Strands Roulette
We will think about options that can contribute to the environment and make a positive impact on the world.
