Inspiration

We took inspiration from the movie Searching(2018), which is about a father who finds clues about his daughter’s disappearance on her laptop.

What it does

Our project is a creative project which takes on storytelling through a digital media format. We wanted to demonstrate that with this project, in which we mimic the styles of various social media such as Twitter, Reddit, and text messages to tell a story through only online posts and messages. There's a lot of implied information that can be learned about people based on their usernames, the types of social media they use, and how they act online.

How we built it

• We hosted our code on the pre-existing builder in Archive of Our Own (AO3)
• CSS was used to build a work skin on AO3
• HTML was used in the work text of our story
• To write the CSS and HTML code, we referenced and used code from other users’ stories and work skin guides on AO3
  

What we learned

Most of us didn't know HTML or CSS, so we were able to build on our HTML and CSS skills and learn more about coding under a time crunch. This was also the first hackathon for each of us, so we learned about how they work and how to code together.
