Inspiration
Annoying pop-ups with links to irrelevant sites have been a big problem for publishers and users alike on the internet. In majority of the cases, the links pushed to publisher sites and apps are based on past browsing history of a user and wouldn’t be relevant. These are intrusive and irritating. Although this generates revenue for sites, they often turn genuine users away.
What it does
Storylinks delivers useful links to publisher sites based on content inside each article or post . The links can be from varied sources ranging from e-commerce to social media to emigration sites.
After a publisher registers with Storylinks, any article or post that appears on the publisher website will be processed by Storylinks and links from potential suppliers will be added to the bottom of the article in a very unobtrusive way.
The first version of Storylinks will depend on a human user to manually verify and approve the keywords used by the system to link an article to supplier web sites but eventually this will be fully taken over by a NLP & AI Bot.
Storylinks generate revenue from subscription charges paid by suppliers and the publisher gets a portion of the pie for providing Storylinks with the space under their articles.
Storylinks is not GoogleAds.
How I built it
We have only build the concept now and are still in the process of designing and building the actual product.
Challenges I ran into
The core of the system is a NLP & AI bot. This is the biggest challenge. The first version of Storylinks will depend on a human user to manually verify and approve the keywords used by the system to link an article to supplier web sites but eventually this will be fully taken over by a NLP & AI Bot.
What's next for StoryLinks
A NLP & AI Bot that will automatically link keywords to articles and then use it to generate links to relevant supplier websites accurately.
