Inspiration
We wanted to create a more immersive and nostalgic photo album experience by incorporating audio and video in a way that transports you back to your best captured moments.
What it does
This platform allows you to curate a dynamic album made of of your favourite photos, videos and audio in order to evoke the feelings of the past.
How we built it
We used ReactJS for the front end, and Firebase to maintain the user's data.
Challenges we ran into
None of us were particularly familiar with Firebase, and only one of us knew how to use React. We spent a lot of time being thoughtful about how to organize our data meaningfully in the database and learning to work with new technologies.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The overall ideation and design process resulted in an idea we're really proud of and want to see come to fruition. The work and results we put into learning the frameworks necessary to bring this website to life is worthy of our pride.
What we learned
Aside from learning to work with new technologies, the brainstorming and decision making process taught us the importance of communication, and collaboration. Having a consensus on what we're making and how exactly it will behave allowed us to streamline our workflow and avoid conflicts.
What's next for PhonoAlbum
A key part of nostalgia is being able to enjoy shared memories together, and we want to enable that connection between friends and family, by allowing users to share their Albums with others. Furthermore, improving the PhonoAlbum viewing experience by working to make adding music more easy by using a Spotify API for easy access to music playback. Finally, we are hoping to allow for further aesthetic customization and refinement, including better animations and
