My presentation "storyboards" an introductory psychology lecture on the history of psychology. It uses the infinite canvas of impress.js to mimic the format of a graphic novel. In addition, I wrote a javascript plug-in that animates drawings, sketches, and notes---as they might appear on an overhead projector. As a professor, I have always been interested in teaching methods that increase student engagement. After reading Scott McCloud's book "Understanding Comics", I was struck by the way a graphic novel engages the reader in a narrative. Unfortunately, the standard tools of slide presentations aren't well adapted to this technique, and I haven't had a chance to try this idea out. impress.js looked like the perfect means to do this. Plus, it was a lot of fun.
