Inspiration

As a child, stories were my world. They sparked my imagination, shaped my values, and helped me grow. But today’s kids are spending over 5 hours a day on screens , mostly watching passive, mindless content. I asked myself:

What if screen time could feel like story time again?

That question became the spark for Story Grow App a platform built to transform everyday screen time into magical, joyful, and educational adventures for children across the globe.

What it does

Story Grow App is a gamified storytelling platform where kids watch curated YouTube fairy tales, solve themed puzzles, and unlock avatars and rewards as they learn. It’s designed to be:

Entertaining – Watch magical stories across categories like Fairy Tales, Musical, and Bedtime Educational – Solve puzzles that build memory, logic, and early literacy Gamified – Earn stars, coins, achievements, and level up Personal – Create avatars and explore a beautiful, child-safe environment It’s not just screen time, it’s story-powered brain time.

How we built it

Crafted a visually rich UI that’s playful, intuitive, and mobile-first. Developed a custom logic system to track puzzles, progress, and achievements. Created a modular design with collections (Magic Library), Avatar customization, and Puzzles. Integrated YouTube storytelling directly into the experience with seamless transitions. Everything is engineered to be joyful for kids and trusted by parents.

Challenges we ran into

Designing a platform simple enough for a 5-year-old, yet deep enough to engage. Gamifying storytelling without making it feel forced or overwhelming. Working within Bolt limitations for animations and state logic. Ensuring a smooth UX across devices, especially in transitions between videos and puzzles.

But every limitation pushed us to be more creative and to build with empathy.
