Inspiration
I drew inspiration from my own life. I had countless notes filled with ideas for books, but I couldn’t find an app for writers that truly suited my needs. So I decided to build one.
What it does
Storka is a feature-rich story editor and world creator designed for writers, authors, and storytellers. You can write chapters, create characters, places, and items, group them, connect them, and use a wide range of tools to boost productivity and spark inspiration.
How we built it
I built it with React Native and Expo, which I use every day. For the first time, I also worked with InstantDB and instantly fell in love with it.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge has been keeping the app simple and intuitive while adding more and more features. I also want it to be as customizable as possible, and at the same time general enough to fit many creative workflows.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This is probably the most feature-rich app I have ever created. It allows you to write chapters, edit and connect everything, draw on a canvas, create tasks and timelines, reorder elements, archive and restore… It’s also the first time I’ve used React Native for the web, and I’m really happy with the result.
What we learned
I discovered the power of InstantDB - it’s wild, and I’m going to use it in all my future projects. I also finally believe that React Native is capable of building a good website.
What's next for Storka
Hopefully, the first users (haha). From there, we’ll see - but I believe Storka will find its place among people who need a space to organize and bring their stories to life.
