Inspiration
We wanted to create a way for children to connect with history in an engaging and interactive way. With this idea in mind, we built Stories for Tomorrow, a platform that brings history’s greatest minds to life using AI.
What it does
Stories for Tomorrow enables users to engage in AI-powered conversations with historical figures. By entering a question, users receive responses as if they were speaking directly to figures like Marie Curie, Frida Kahlo, or Louis Riel.
How we built it
Frontend: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to structure and style the website Backend: OpenAI’s API to generate responses in the voice of historical figures User Input Processing: The "Ask More Questions" button takes a custom user prompt, formats it into a structured AI query, and retrieves a response
Challenges we ran into
We had to optimize API calls, refine response formatting, and design a seamless user experience within the hackathon’s time constraints, which we found very challenging with many of us being first-time Hackathoners.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Creating a fun and engaging way for students to explore history; Successfully building an interactive AI-powered educational tool in a short time; Designing a clean, user-friendly interface.
What we learned
Working with OpenAI’s API taught us how to optimize API calls and structure responses efficiently; Working under hackathon constraints taught us how to prioritize features and collaborate efficiently.
What's next for Stories for Tomorrow
Moving forward, we hope to incorporate more historical figure options, improve the website organization, and provide a seamless user experience.
