StoreRush

Why 'StoreRush' starts-up?

The project ‘StoreRush’ initially came up from worldwide environmental concern. In Hong Kong, 1/3 of solid waste is food. In China, approximately 8 million tons of food is wasted annually, valuing around 200 billion RMB. In 2015, France’s national assembly passed a legislation that forces companies to donate nearly-expired food products to charities or food banks. ‘StoreRush’ is trying to achieve a paradigm shift in handling the nearly-expired products.

How 'StoreRush' works?

‘StoreRush’ will facilitate the transaction between stores and customers in dealing with nearly-expired products. Customers will search nearby stores around themselves to look for discount opportunities and to make purchase. There will be a timer showing the remaining time before the expiry dates to encourage customers to rush to the stores on a First-Come, First-Served basis, hence we call our app ‘StoreRush’.

What 'StoreRush' promises?

Any food products unconsumed before their expiry dates not only cause food waste problems to the society, but also result in financial losses to the stores. Expiry date of products has been a threat to the stores, but ‘StoreRush’ will turn threat into a new opportunity by re-positioning the nearly-expired products. ‘StoreRush’ suggests a new way to deal with nearly-expired products to achieve a win-win for both stores and customers. Their interaction will contribute to the society by reducing environmental costs. The idea of ‘StoreRush’ is simple, but powerful.
