Inspiration

The inspiration for Storecraft came from observing how many small business owners, especially in Nigeria and other emerging markets, rely heavily on WhatsApp, Instagram, or word of mouth to sell their products. While they’re entrepreneurial and passionate, they often lack the technical skills or resources to set up an online store. Existing solutions like Shopify or WooCommerce are either too complex or not tailored for mobile-first users and local payments. We wanted to remove those barriers and create something that’s simple, fast, and designed for them, a platform where they can launch a store in minutes.

What it does

Storecraft makes it incredibly easy for entrepreneurs to:

  • Create their own online store in just a few clicks
  • Add products with pictures, prices, and descriptions
  • Accept payments using familiar options like Paystack
  • Track orders and get notified when someone buys
  • Share their store link anywhere — on WhatsApp, Instagram, or even as a QR code

No coding. No stress. Just business, made simple.

How we built it

We designed Storecraft to feel like you're chatting with a friend while setting up your shop. We used modern web tools to make it fast and mobile-friendly — but what matters most is how it feels to use.

The focus was:

  • Simple sign-up
  • Step-by-step store setup
  • A dashboard that’s easy to understand
  • Reliable tools to help sellers grow

We also connected with local payment systems like Stripe and paystack to make transactions seamless.

Challenges we ran into

Every good idea has its tough parts, and Storecraft was no different.

  • We had to keep things simple but powerful. Some users wanted more control; others just wanted it done quickly.

  • Building trust was also important. People are careful when it comes to money, so we had to make the platform feel safe.

  • And of course, making sure everything works smoothly on a smartphone, even with slow internet.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Sellers can now create a working store in under 10 minutes
  • The platform is so simple, even first-time users feel confident using it

  • We’ve already processed real payments and orders

What we learned

  • People don’t want features — they want results. So we focused on what helps them sell more.
  • Listening to users early helped us build a better platform, faster.
  • Trust, simplicity, and speed matter more than flashy design.
  • Local payment options and clear communication go a long way.

What's next for Storecraft

Next, we’re working on:

  • Letting sellers offer digital products like eBooks or courses
  • A mobile app for even easier access
  • Custom domain names (like yourbrand.com)
  • Promo tools — discounts, emails, and more
  • A shared marketplace where anyone can discover products
