Inspiration
Small shopkeepers and local business owners face huge difficulties in keeping manual registers for customer debts (udhaar/qarz), order history, and daily stock shortages. I built Store Manager (Offline POS) to solve this exact problem with a clean, fast, and simple digital ledger system.
What it does
- Customer Debt & Udhaar Management: Easily search customers (e.g., Nabi Ullah), view old balance, add new order amounts, and track total outstanding balance in real-time.
- Payment & Recovery System: Receive partial or full payments from customers, update remaining balances instantly, and maintain full ledger history with exact dates/timestamps.
- Transaction Records: Detailed view of all past orders and payments made by any specific customer.
- Outstanding Balances Overview: A dedicated button to view a complete list of all customers and their current total balance owed.
- Shortage Inventory List: Easily add items running short in stock (e.g., gee, glass, biscuit, rice, apple) and print/export the shortage report instantly.
- Backup & CSV Export: Backup database locally and export records to CSV format for external accounting.
How I built it
- Frontend & App Logic: Built using Flutter & Dart for smooth cross-platform desktop application experience.
- Local Database: Fast offline database (SQLite) for real-time ledger updates without needing constant internet.
- Export System: Integrated CSV generation for MS Excel compatibility.
Challenges I ran into
Designing a dual-panel interface where customer order entries and balance recovery happen side-by-side without visual clutter, along with managing precise calculations for customer credit/debit history.
What I learned
I gained deep practical experience in state management in Flutter, handling offline SQLite relational database queries, and designing intuitive user workflows for retail management.
