Inspiration
Initially conceived as a backseat driver for terrible car drivers and lovers of self-depreciating humor, stopNgo tracks your drive using phone sensors and rates your driving skills.
What it does
The app uses the phone accelerometer and location services to track driving activity and then calculates a driving score for your drive. It's also got your back: if you crash, it will alert the appropriate authorities to your location using Twilio and here.com
How we built it
The app was developed in Xamarin, and is cross-platform as a result. The backend is built in python flask.
Challenges we ran into
None of us had used Xamarin for mobile development before, though some of us had experience with Android development. Hooking into the phone accelerometer and location services was also a challenge, especially while maintaining cross-platform support.
What's next for stopNgo
Collection of more data and building a more concrete model for processing data into tangible driver readings.
