Just as this contest is asking for the public to submit ideas to stop Robo Calling, my idea puts the public in charge of stopping the calling. Upon receiving a Robo call all you need to do is *stop or some other number that the phone companies can assign (like *69 for automated call back). This number would be feed into a database with the requester and the calling number logged. If this number gets a certain threshold of hits (say 20) from different *stop requesters’ , the number will be disabled and the calls from this number will be blocked by the phone company. In order to preserve the those callers like credit companies, organizations and other legal exceptions from not getting blocked, they would need to register to prevent their number from being inserted into the *stop database. Let the people be the traffic cop, this is the only way to make this work. Calls will always get through devices, but peoples united against a common enemy will always conquer.
