We saw Starbucks staff throwing out fresh bakery, we were devastated.
What it does
This websites serves as a platform for people to give out the food they cannot finish/enjoy. And other people can get food for lower price or even free!!! Our website can show the location of the food and even calculate how long it takes to get there.Users can create their own account and enjoy StoneSoup. One interesting thing is in order to get food you have to play a fun game to gain points!!! Let's minimize waste food!
How we built it
Blair: Blair implemented the Google map API and wrote javascript for time calculation. Crystal: Crystal built the backend for StoneSoup with python and django. Freda: Freda designed the fun game with pygame. Lynn: Lynn wrote the frontend for the website with html and css.
Challenges we ran into
all of us are working on something we either have no knowledge or have little knowledge about, so it took us some time to get familiar with the tool.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We all learned a lot and created something that is beneficial to the community.
What we learned
We not only learned so much skill on web devlopment, api, pygame and such, but also learned to collaborate and come up with a successful cool project.
What's next for StoneSoup
Obviously, there are still a lot to improve. The frontend can be designed more, the food-point-exchange system can be improved too.
