Inspiration
We built Stonegrid, an app that adds security to your project automatically while you vibe code. The idea came when we saw someone build an app called Shipfast, which scaled to $50K MRR. It was created by Marc Lou, a well-known indie hacker—but because of a major security issue, people quickly exploited it, and the problem blew up on Twitter. That showed us how even great products can collapse if security is neglected. We wanted to make sure that doesn’t happen to the next generation of apps.
What it does
Stonegrid secures your app in just one click. Instead of worrying about vulnerabilities while you build, Stonegrid automatically fixes and strengthens your app behind the scenes.
How we built it
The prototype was built with Next.js, with AI integrated to help generate good-looking and functional security features.
Challenges we ran into
Outreach was a big challenge. A lot of our posts on Reddit completely flopped—we got little to no traction at first. But we kept experimenting with different platforms and strategies until one method finally worked.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
As first-year students in our first hackathon, we’re proud that we managed to ship something real. While we expected more from ourselves, the experience was both challenging and rewarding, and we learned a lot about building (and surviving) under pressure.
What we learned
How not to do outreach.
What's next for Stonegrid
We plan to continue developing Stonegrid, with the goal of making AI-developed apps much more secure. Our mission is to give developers peace of mind so they can vibe code freely—without worrying about their app being the next Shipfast.
