Inspiration
We wanted a way to make trading more accessible to the average user and incentivize the user to perform well through a rewards system.
What it does
By training agents to help the user make trades based on the user's investing style, we give the user autonomy over their choices while alleviating the grunt work of researching and predicting trends. The wishlist system gameifies the process as users get rewarded for hitting certain milestones in their trading journey.
How we built it
For the frontend in React and Vite, we used Mana for design. For the backend in Node, we trained Creao agents to interact with the Coinbase MCP to calculate and execute trades. Additionally, we used Zinc to search for product listings and purchase them. Our database is SpacetimeDB, which provides the hosting and its own built-in system to access the data. To determine the trades, we use Apify and Bright Data to scrape the web for information on prospective trades and then feed that into the trained CREAO trader personalities to choose which trade to make, which is then executed through CoinBase. The user can also create a wishlist (currently from mock items in Zinc's sandbox) that the app will automatically purchase when their profit hits a certain threshold, as decided by another CREAO agent trained to weigh the reinvestment-spending tradeoffs.
Challenges we ran into
We had a difficult time determining what the flow of information should be, specifically which agents would need to feed information to other ones. To solve this, we talked through what the flow of usage on the app would make the most sense as prospective users to collaboratively brainstorm the best approach.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We all worked with new technologies this weekend and challenged ourselves.
What we learned
None of us knew much about trading prior to this, despite having interests in this topic. We were able to learn more about the field as we worked through making the app and also learned how to use quite a few new technologies and explore new tools.
What's next for StockUp
We want to implement a leaderboard or other multiplayer features that would allow users to connect and compete with friends. We believe this would further encourage users to continue their use of the app.
