Inspiration: catering difficulties

What it does: it puts together an inventory system that pairs with smart shelves for keeping an eye to expiry dates and a good logistical arrangement of the shelves, giving the sensors a great role in guiding catering workers towards a faster accomplishment of their jobs, without having to think much about it.

How we built it

We started easy on a FastAPI little main.py file, then we started to make it bigger as our needs grew. We toyed with a lot of similar ideas before taking a step forward with this one.

Challenges we ran into

Without a doubt, the biggest challenge was sticking to solving this only logistical problem and not shining a light on top of the two other problems who were as interesting as the one that involved the time efficiency in the storage room. We came across a lot of possible solutions involving AI or ML on the prediction and insight side of the stuff, sadly, it didn`t go our way in its entirety, but at the end we did good.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The logistical system we designed that shines green light and focuses on the user having to grab green lights without thinking of it is one of his kind. Maybe (and visibly) not the best implementation or the best twist around this particular problem but it was a pretty creative one, and if done seriously on a real world scenario, it could be very efficient.

What we learned

We learned more about the complexity of the problems faced by big enterprises such as gategroup, they have to worry about a lot of variables including timing, space, money, people, etc and its such a beautiful art that in our modern world we get machines to help us solve problems as complex as this and even more.
