Inspiration
Rob, our team lead, has worked on the technical side of finance for a long time. He's dabbled in investing in the stock market himself, but has always found it a bit overwhelming. There's a lot of information out there! He wanted a tool that could help him review and summarize multimodal data, sentiments, and trends about stocks and market from sources like the news and social media.
What it does
A comprehensive AI-powered stock analysis platform that uses multimodal agents to generate in-depth reports by analyzing multiple data sources including stock data, news articles, finance videos, social media sentiment, and more. The platform leverages advanced AI models like Google's Gemini AI to provide actionable insights and detailed analysis.
How we built it
Rob is our team lead. He's a software engineer with a background in AI. He came up with the idea for the project and created the backend using FastAPI, Gemini, Agno, and more. Kevin and Cat worked on creating frontends for the app using React.
Challenges we ran into
We arrived to the hackathon still brainstorming ideas and finally settled on an idea about halfway through the first day, so our time for implementation was a bit shorter than we would have liked. The speed of the app was a definite issue - the API calls take quite a while. We didn't quite get it to a point where we could demo all the features we wanted, but we're still glad we made this start and are looking forward to continuing to build it out after the hackathon.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Learning and using a bunch of new tools in a short timeframe.
What we learned
There are a lot of really great AI tools out there! We leveraged the sponsor tools to make agents way faster than we thought we could.
What's next for StockMe
We'd love to make it more interactive with a chat interface. It would be cool to connect a user's YouTube account and have the AI go over their channel subscriptions to find any financial channels they already follow so the report could pull information from those. And then we'd like to create StockUp, the next step to allow users to not only learn about but also buy and sell stocks!
