STOCKER

Inspiration

We all know that when Ronaldo rejected Coca-cola its stock prices came crashing down. Similarly the Ukaraine - Russian war affected the stock market. So we are trying to use Headline data to predict the stock market with the numerical stock data. We also noticed a significant disparity in stock investments based on race. According to various studies, white households are more likely to own stocks than black or Hispanic households. This is partly due to historic and systemic racism, as well as income and wealth inequality. This inspired us to add features like financial education resources and investment guidance, which will inspire and empower minorities and beginners to take control of their financial futures.

What it does

It's an application that 1) Teaches you about the stock market with features like word of the day, long press on any finance jargon that they don't understand, and educate them about it. 2) Has a model that gives predictions.

How we built it

We used Natural language processing to use the headline data and finally created a deep learning model. We also have a chatbot regarding financial literacy. We provide a safe and secure environment for the users with a) Multi-Factor Authentication. b) Data Encryption. c) Firewall and Antivirus solutions. d) Real-time threat intelligence. e) Secure Implementation of cloud computing. f) Following the "compliance as code" policy.

We designed our UI that helps you get to navigate through different stock prices, invest in them and watch the prediction made by our model.

Challenges we ran into

1) Since it's an app we had to add something to secure our data. 2) We also had to learn a lot about the stock market to build the model of the app. 3) Find out a way to use the headline data.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

1) Our model showed a very good accuracy on the data.
2) Our UI is wholesome and very engaging as it not only helps you invest but learn about the stock market as well which will be very helpful, especially for beginners.

What's next for STOCKER

What’s next for stocker: We plan to scale and integrate all the different features of Stocker into one compact app. We plan to utilize deep learning and NLP to provide direct actions for the user to take. The algorithm would use the predicted data stock market trends it has gathered to deduce a plan of action that takes the users investment preferences into account. This erases the need for the new coming investors to make investment decisions that they would otherwise be anxious to make. They can sit back, relax, and have the expert, Stocker, tell them exactly what they need to do.
