Inspiration

They say the best way to learn about stock market, is to invest. But that comes with a risk, especially for students. Stocky allows students to experience a real time stock market with live values from iex-cloud, they spend virtual money, and compare profits earned with their friends!! So they gain real time stock market experience without having to spend actual money

This is a online program that mimics the stock market, allowing investors to try out trading with little to no consequences.

Investing simulators are good for adults who want to learn the ins and outs of trading, but are also good in a classroom environment for students.

What it does

Stock Market Simulator is a simulation web platform for stock market users where they can find their

PORTFOLIO with Current Balance initial = 10000$, Stocks Owned & Current Value of owned stocks (difference between when they bought it and current value)

LIST OF ALL COMPANIES SELLING STOCKS: Buy stocks/quantity

PUBLIC PORTFOLIOS: the part of user’s profile is shown publicly or on leaderboard

LEADERBOARD: to be updated every month

to keep the users updated with all up to date market values.

How we built it

Wireframed prototype- Figma

Frontend- HTML, CSS, Bootstrap

Backend- Django

API- iex cloud

Challenges we ran into

It was tough to decide that which API to use for most efficient result. Finally we came with a decision.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our checklist and the features were long. We're proud that we could represent our structure within given 24 hours time frame.

What we learned

While designing, learnt wireframing on Figma Got friendly with the use of IEX Cloud API.

What's next for Stock Market Simulator

more improved UI & user friendly features to be added soon.
