Stock helper in general

In this project it uses the agent Caspian tools to use one handler for two channels, it will provide analysis about few stock companies Apple Inc and four more.

Inspiration

I got this idea from my dad since he generally checks how stock market is and sometimes without the knowledge when the market crashes or not it is been difficult for him to understand when to invest and when not to.

What it does

It answers the questions the user asks about the these basic stock information by making analysis like from these five companies like:

  • Apple -NVIDIA Corp
  • Microsoft Corp
  • Amazon.com Inc
  • Tesla Inc so the questions that come from the user (from me), there is a agent for email and discord has it own ID but with the use of Caspian agent tools, then it send you the analysis to the user, it is like a AI chat bot.

How we built it

I used Visual Studio Code (VSC) in that I used chatbot and gave it instructions, tested with its local app and then pushed that code into my GitHub.

Challenges we ran into

1) Issue: Direct Yahoo Finance API access via GitHub wrappers required a paid subscription. So could not make the ping work with one file, so it made quite difficult for me to do it

Workaround: Sourced and parsed free, open-source Markdown (.md) files on GitHub to extract foundational stock data at no cost.

2) Issue: Encountered difficulties linking the Caspian app to an existing Discord account (srik0205) and tracking down where the agent was printing its responses.

Workaround: Built a dedicated Discord server to establish a clean connection channel, which successfully routed the user queries and displayed the agent's live outputs.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Was able to push the code into my GitHub, since I am using macOS in order to make the GitHub work, I needed tool like xcode.

  • Making a sever discord and an agent email that I can email to, with the help of a demo app from VSC, I had to create for test run in the initial stage.

What we learned

  • pushing the code from a known platform like VSC into GitHub is new for me and I had to learn that and also learned to the the push I need to instal xcode.

  • I earned that I need to create a server and just a normal discord account won't cut it

What's next for Stock helper in general

  • My plan is to change a code and give it more advanced rules on buying or selling stocks
  • Due to the time line I could not make it ping the news in stock related in real time, the next thing is I can try that
