Inspiration

We wanted to create a platform that is catered towards teens, especially those who suffer from overstimulation and anxiety. We also wanted the appearance to be inviting and simplistic, attributes not seen in typical resource websites. The incorporation of serene and ombre colors also contributes to the calming nature of the site.

What it does

The website offers three pages, all relating to approaching different aspects of mental health. The home page offers the game, panicking now, and resources page with the panicking page enlarged. The games page provides differing games dedicated to alleviating stressors and tensions the user may face. The resources page lists professional 24/7 hotline numbers for user experiencing more severe conditions. The panicking now button takes the user to a page displaying a breathing exercise that is intended to relieve the user if they were experiencing a panic attack.

How we built it

Initially, we built the website on Rep.lit, forming skeleton with html. We created several pages and the content within it. After, we designed the individual pages using css, building a gradient.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into spacing issues, especially with the games page. Certain alignment was required for each page so keeping with consistency was difficult. Keeping the overall theme simple and using varying font size proved difficult as well.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Overall, our team was able to gather research on optimal calming colors and design and incorporate it into the website. The website is functioning and allows users a choice to their approach of wellness.

What we learned

Overall, we learned how to collaborate and utilize each of our strengths to curate a final, working website. We also learned different css design functions, our gradient was a result of this.

What's next for Still Space

We definitely want to add more pages to our website and explore new ways that we can approach treating mental health through our the pages.
