Inspiration
We all know the feeling. Playing "Where's Waldo", and no matter where you look, you can't find the dude at all. Well we thought, what could be more frustrating than finding out exactly how hard you did look. And what could we learn from this information along the way?
What it does
Still Can't Find Waldo uses Adhawk's Eye-Tracking glasses to see where you were really looking while playing "Where's Waldo." After finding Waldo, we replay to you, live, the journey you took along the way and how dire it got at times. We'll highlight your vision path on the page so you can see how many times you glanced over ol' pal Waldo without realizing it and provide some insight into how much of the page you actually searched.
How we built it
We used Adhawk's Eye-Tracking glasses to track users' gaze while they were playing. By leveraging Socket.io, we were able to pipeline the data from the hardware through our Flask backend and over to our React Frontend.
Challenges we ran into
Creating this data pipeline was difficult. Additionally, figuring out how to project our gaze onto a screen without the usage of a front-facing camera was exceptionally tedious as well.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We finished.
What's next for Still Can't Find Waldo?
There are many more behaviours that could be analyzed such as pupil dilation and we're curious if there are correlations that can be found from the Where's Waldo case study.
