Work Flow
ShutTheFakeUp is an IDEA implemented currently as Android Application & Website, to shake the fake news out of our world. Built for the topic “Smart Habitat”. MOTTO : Thinking ahead of making “things” around us smarter, we intend to make “people” around us smarter.
As it is said, and we whole heartedly believe – “Correct Information is your Right!”. Hence we propose our idea.
IDEA Drawing inspiration from the finance world, the concept of Block Chain Technology, which is based on WISDOM OF MAJORITY, along with using the power of Internet through Machine Learning (NLP) – we built a solution to inform people about the AUTHENTICITY of a NEWS.
WHAT IS OUR HABITAT? My habitat is my home. Your habitat is your home. And our habitat is this world , with immense information flowing around , our habitat is vulnerable, and it becomes our responsibility to make it smart enough. Our perception of habitat isin’t just the things around us, it’s people as well who are to be made smarter.
WHY NEWS?? What connects you , a fellow human being , to a person in Kashmir or Kerala or Syria or Israel or anyplace you may think of ? What connects you to your government? What connects you to sports? What connects you to the lavish lifestyle & fashion trends? How do you know your world is changing? Answer these to answer “Why News?”
WHY UNDER THE TOPIC – SMART HABITAT??
We know we need to make people smart , we know news is important and makes people take informed and well thought over decisions - which is intact the definition of being smart! Hence why not solve a potential threat to our habitat!?
HOW THIS MAKES SENSE?? Will it make sense when all the connections between you and your world through the media and News gets corrupted? Fake news is a growing problem , enough for us to feel a potential threat to the belief people have on our Media. Out of mischief or ill intentions , whatever may be the reasons , we are experiencing an era with exploding fake news at every possible media channel , and the list is topped by our beloved Internet. Internet needs saving. Media Needs saving. We are a step closer , doing our bit.
IS IT UNIQUE??
The intentions - No, the Idea - maybe , the implementation - of course!
AND FEASIBLE??
If it can be implemented good enough to be demonstrated in 24 hours - we are sure it won’t take much of manpower. Regarding economic feasibility - all our application takes a some space on cloud and some on your phones. Currently we plan to have it open-sourced and if, and when the time comes when it is a big hit - we are sure of finding an economic solution to database storage until then.
WHEN DOES IT FAIL??
It fails , when the people make it fail. It wins otherwise, always. Majority Of Wisdom. Eg. if a fake news is very close to being real , issued by renowned authority and accepted my most of us , it’s likely that our application will go on to support the majority.
ANSWERING THE ABOVE QUESTION!
However we have included AI model in our application to support / go against the news headline using resources from The Internet.

Using the idea of block chain from the finance industry , we thought of doing something on similar lines.
On our platform (Android Application or Website ) we display Trending News to people , and people vote for or against the news and , using an AI in the backend we provide a confidence score.
Cumulative of the above values reveals the truth.
