Inspiration
The idea for Steward draws inspiration from crowdfunding platforms like GoFundMe, emphasizing community support, combined with the social media elements of Instagram, allowing users to share stories, experiences, and connect through their fundraising journeys. The goal is to foster a supportive community while facilitating the donation process.
What it does
Steward is a community-driven platform that combines the best elements of crowdfunding and social networking. It allows individuals and organizations to create donation requests for various causes—be it personal needs, charitable projects, or community initiatives. Users can share their stories through engaging posts, receive donations from multiple supporters, and foster a sense of connection and collaboration. The app not only facilitates fundraising but also encourages social interaction, enabling users to comment, share, and support each other’s journeys. Ultimately, Steward aims to create a compassionate community where people can easily seek and provide support.
How we built it
Our app, developed using Flutter and backed by Firebase, delivers a seamless, responsive experience designed to amplify your impact and foster meaningful connections.
Challenges we ran into
- Firebase integration bug
- RevenueCat SDK integration
- Timeline: We saw this hackathon barely 3 weeks ago
- Delay for App Store and Play Store to upload
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Built in less than 15 days.
What we learned
- We can use different methodologies even in the agile framework to deliver our task.
- We started with waterfall then moved to agile, using daily scrum and standups.
- Thereafter, we moved into Rapid application development, as we had limited time to build all we wanted to build for our MVP, in this hackathon.
- We learnt that testing along the way, helps us get a more user-centric flow of our app.
- And finally, we can do so much by communicating effectively and on time.
What's next for Steward
- More interactions, maybe add AI and machine learning to the app.
- More seamless integration of popular technologies.
- Google and Apple sign-in features.
- Continuous research and development
