Inspiration
I was inspired by a simple problem: people set ambitious goals but struggle to stay consistent.
Most productivity apps focus on large outcomes, which can feel overwhelming. I wanted to build something that emphasizes micro-actions — small, manageable steps that compound into meaningful progress.
StepWorthy was created around one belief:
Big goals are achieved through small, consistent steps.
What it does
StepWorthy is a premium Android productivity app that helps users break down big goals into smaller actionable steps and track them daily.
With StepWorthy, users can:
- Create structured goals with step-by-step breakdowns
- Track daily streaks to build consistency
- Complete steps and earn points
- View progress insights
- Unlock Pro features for unlimited goals, themes, and sharing
This version is an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) focused on core functionality and clean UX, not a fully scaled production app.
How we built it
StepWorthy was built using:
- Kotlin
- Jetpack Compose (Modern Android UI)
- MVVM Architecture
- Material 3 Design
- RevenueCat for subscription management
- Google Play Billing integration
- Local state & structured goal models
I focused on:
- Clean, minimal UI
- Smooth user interactions
- Modern Android development best practices
- Modular architecture for future scalability
The Pro subscription system was integrated with RevenueCat to handle in-app purchases and entitlement management cleanly.
Challenges we ran into
Some key challenges included:
- Designing a streak system that prevents double point awards
- Ensuring subscription offerings were correctly configured in RevenueCat
- Handling purchase flow and restoring subscriptions properly
- Maintaining UI consistency between “Pro” and “Premium” branding
- Aligning typography and layout for a polished paywall experience
- I also had to debug issues like offerings not loading due to configuration mismatches.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully implementing a working subscription system
- Creating a clean, premium-feeling glassmorphic UI
- Designing a structured goal → step → streak ecosystem
- Delivering a functional MVP with real monetization
- Maintaining clean Compose-based architecture
- Most importantly, we built a usable, testable product — not just a concept.
What we learned
- The importance of small UX details in conversion (copy, alignment, clarity)
- Subscription systems require precise backend configuration
- Consistency in branding improves user trust
- MVP scope discipline is critical — build core value first
- We also learned that productivity tools must balance simplicity and motivation carefully.
What's next for Stepworthy
- Planned improvements include:
- Yearly subscription plan
- Advanced analytics and insights
- Smart reminders and habit suggestions
- Cloud sync & authentication
- Social accountability features
- Improved gamification mechanics
- Better streak recovery systems
StepWorthy is currently an MVP, but the long-term vision is to evolve it into a powerful micro-goal achievement platform.
