Inspiration

We wanted a teaser that captures the moment of stepping into new danger, that breath before the next challenge begins. 30 seconds to establish tone and leave viewers wanting more.

What it does

This short teaser shows a rat competitor emerging from an elevator into Level 2 of a vast lab competition. The doors open, the rat steps forward into unknown territory filled with new traps and distractions, then cuts to black and the Lab Rat title card. It's a pure atmosphere piece: anticipation without resolution.

How we built it

We focused on that singular transition moment: elevator doors opening, first glimpse of the new environment, movement forward into danger. The brevity creates urgency. Viewers see just enough to understand stakes before the cut.

Challenges we ran into

Conveying tension in 30 seconds without context. We needed the teaser to feel complete as a moment while obviously being part of something larger, making viewers curious about both what came before and what comes next.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We captured anticipation in its purest form... that split second between safety and danger when you commit to moving forward anyway. The abrupt cut to title leaves viewers in that suspended moment.

What we learned

Short-form teasers work best when they show a single clear beat. Not a story, not an explanation, just one moment that communicates tone and raises questions.

The full Lab Rat interactive narrative is available in beta, challenging players to navigate multiple levels of traps and distractions while competing for freedom beyond the lab walls.
