Inspiration
This game was inspired by the likes of "Getting over it" and visually by the 80s retro tv aesthetic. Its inspired by goals in real life, things that need to be done, things which have some difficult and some easy going parts, the feeling that something's wrong right around the corner when life is easy going. This game is that.
What it does
Step-Hundred is a minimalistic game about climbing a set of 100 stairs. Each day, there's a new set, and you launch your player up those stairs, and hope to not land wrong and tumble down. It has a leaderboard to reward players who are either quick, or efficient at the game. But in reality all the game wants is for you to pick it up, finish it, and continue on with the day, a little more confident from a task well done.
How we built it
Unity and C# was utilized for the core game.
Challenges we ran into
This was my first time developing for Reddit as a platform, in the past I've only used Reddit to talk about gamedev. So the integration was a challenge, as any new thing is, but it was overcome, as any challenge should be.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Creating a complete playable product for the platform, and becoming a contributor to Games on Reddit.
What we learned
Ask for help. Just because you can manage it alone, doesn't mean you have to.
What's next for Step Hundred
Incorporating lots of new ideas, challenge modes, streaks, and much more.
