Inspiration

Our inspiration was the solar system. Ever since we were younger, the solar system has always captivated us to look further than the Earth and think of what is out there in the stars. As our task was to inspire 0-12 year old kids about the various opportunities in the STEM field, we thought we could play on the idea of having a "STEMverse" or a STEM Universe. Come explore with us!

What it does

We built a parallax scrolling website that starts off with a rocket blast into the solar system. Each planet is a component of STEM, which we show through infographics we made and the other 4 planets are used to host quizzes that the kids can take to decide which career of that component they are most likely to enter into. At the end, we send them back to earth with their new knowledge about not only STEM careers but an interactive experience with our own solar system through our website.

How we built it

We really focused on the UI/UX part of this project, so the parallax website was made using HTML/CSS and JS, as well as the REACT framework. The infographics were made straight from FIGMA, which we hoped to animate so that the users could interact with them as well but we did not have the time. We created quizzes to test the knowledge of kids on STEM careers using an online software aimed to wrap our project up.
