We were inspired by educational kids apps and games such as tycoons which captivate their attention with a twist by adding the aspect of STEM principles.
STEMverse is an application which allows children under 12 to create buildings, by finishing courses, and earning money to purchase decorations for their STEM-based workspaces.
We designed the application through Figma by brainstorming different app pages and creating a prototype for each of the screens.
The main challenge we ran into were lack of experience in participating in Hackathons, since it was all of our first Hackathon. Along with that, at first, we struggled with using new technologies that we haven't experimented with before.
We are proud of the design and layout of the prototype since it successfully captures the vision we had while brainstorming. In addition to that, we are proud of the personalization that the app offers since children like using apps and resources that best fit their interest.
We learned how to operate Figma and finish a product within a time crunch. We also learned how to collaborate and assign tasks to each teammate, while contributing our own knowledge to the final product.
STEMverse aims to be more inclusive towards all children, including those with visual impairments and learning disabilities, by adding new technology such as text-to-speech.
