Inspiration
Many students in my community face challenges when learning STEM subjects because they don't always have access to a personal tutor. I wanted to create a solution that is accessible to everyone, right from their smartphones.
What it does
STEM Buddy is an AI-powered Telegram bot that acts as a 24/7 personal mentor. It helps students visualize complex formulas, provides step-by-step solutions to math and physics problems, and can even explain coding concepts using simple language.
How I built it
I used PHP for the backend and integrated the Telegram Bot API. To make it "smart," I integrated AI models to process natural language queries. The bot is designed to be lightweight and fast, accessible even with slow internet connections.
Challenges I ran into
The biggest challenge was making the AI explain complex STEM topics in a way that a high school student could easily understand, without using over-complicated jargon.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Building a functional tool that can actually help my peers learn better and making a complex AI system work smoothly within a Telegram interface.
What I learned
I learned a lot about API integrations and how to prompt AI to be an effective educational tutor.
