What it does
Stellar is a survival comms network for life beyond Earth.
How we built it
DeepSpace (React, Vite, TypeScript, Tailwind) for the frontend, real-time database, sign-in, file storage, and hosting. Every collection has permissions enforced on the server, so vitals history stays private to its owner.
NASA Solar System Treks map tiles for real planetary terrain. The tiles use an equirectangular projection, so we plot points of interest directly from latitude and longitude.
DeepSpace AI (Claude Haiku) writes text for colony bots and AI operators. User text is fenced off as untrusted before the AI sees it, and every reply is checked for links, code, and leaked instructions before posting, with a scripted fallback if it fails.
Orbit math for light delay: each location's position is computed from its orbit on the current date, and delay = distance รท speed of light.
Challenges we ran into
- Team access: a "not the app owner or a collaborator" error blocked local development until we sorted out DeepSpace permissions.
Built With
- deepspace
- react
- tailwind
- typescript
- vite
