Inspiration
We were inspired by STEAM Superheroes's initiative to help younger kids learn STEM concepts and be mentored towards success.
What it does
Our code creates a mentor-mentee matching algorithm, a user interface for users to interact with, a scheduling and notification system, as well as database storage.
How we built it
We assigned 4 roles to team members starting with sett up the backend framework along with the matching algorithm. The members did things like frontend development for the user interface, creating a scheduling notification system, and database & design management. Each of us started with base code and worked towards more elaborate code.
Challenges we ran into
We were struggling to upload things to GitHub. It was difficult to set up the Google Calendar API as well as to connect the backend to the frontend.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of how this was our first hackathon and we were able to create a submission.
What we learned
We learned how to implement Python, Javascript, and other programming languages. We also learned how to work as a team and split tasks.
What's next for Steam Superheroes
We hope that what is next for Steam Superheroes is a good matching system and scheduling system.
