" Steam Punk "
What it does
A Steam-Punk 3D-VR Scrolling Shooting Game.
How we built it
I use Unity, and Arduino to build it.
Challenges we ran into
Game design, coding, and connection between Unity & Arduino.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our VR game reinvents classic scrolling shooters by immersing two players in a high-stakes, interactive battle. One player becomes the Boss, and the other, the challenger. What sets this game apart is the challenger’s control system, which uses ultrasonic and blowing sensors to manage vertical movement, allowing them to dodge missiles fired by the Boss. This sensor-driven control creates a physical, immersive experience. Meanwhile, the Boss navigates and fires using a keyboard, blending strategy and reflex-based action that adds depth to gameplay.
Beyond entertainment, this game has real potential for rehabilitation. The ultrasonic sensor promotes upper body movement for better hand-eye coordination, while the blowing sensor aids breath control and lung capacity. This unique approach makes therapy sessions more engaging, encouraging users to improve motor skills and coordination through gameplay. By merging fun with function, our VR game offers an exciting, therapeutic experience that can change how users view rehabilitation.

How to build VR-games with physical sensors
What's next for Steam-Punk 3D-VR Scrolling Shooting Game
Refine the game to be more components, such as obstacles, enemies, etc. On another hand, we can do some rehabilitation research to see what it can do for patients with lung and upper limb failures.
