Inspiration

Millions of people worldwide suffer from mental health issues but lack access to immediate, affordable, and reliable support. Therefore, we decided to address this problem by creating a bot using Google AI Vertex technology.

What it does

We developed Steady Support, a chatbot designed to provide users with fast and effective responses to their mental health queries. The bot has been trained on an extensive dataset of frequently asked questions and answers, ensuring it can offer accurate and empathetic support on a wide range of mental health topics.

How we built it

We built the project using Google AI Vertex to design the bot. We utilized a dataset obtained from Kaggle to provide example questions and answers to the bot. To ensure the quality and relevance of the data, we cleaned and preprocessed it using a Python script.

Challenges we ran into

We encountered several challenges throughout the project. Initially, gathering and cleaning the dataset was a complex task that required attention to detail. Writing the Python script for data preprocessing further tested our skills, ensuring that the data was suitable for training the model.

Learning to navigate and utilize Google AI Vertex design was somewhat difficult. Understanding how to configure the settings for the model to run efficiently on this platform required considerable effort and learning.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of several key accomplishments in our project. Firstly, we successfully gathered and cleaned a comprehensive dataset, ensuring it was perfectly prepared for the bot's use. This meticulous preprocessing was crucial for the bot’s accuracy and effectiveness.

Another major accomplishment was witnessing the bot successfully answer questions and provide helpful responses to users. Seeing the bot in action, delivering reliable support, and making a positive impact on users.

What's next for Steady Support

The next step would be to enhance the project by incorporating additional features such as:

  1. Get the code from the Google AI feature using get code. Create a web app and integrate the bot into it.
  2. Share the web app with the professional therapist or integrate it into a mobile app for users.
  3. Add professional therapist contacts on the side of the bot model which can be suggested with the user's help.
  4. Improve the accuracy and context of the model by providing more examples of the situation.
