Inspiration
We were inspired by the issue of alcoholism that is becoming increasingly prevalent in the world, especially with isolation due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
What it does
The app prevents regression into alcoholism through a community of support and interactions. The app provides encouragement to continue being sober through daily check-ins and messages you can leave yourself. The app also has stories of celebrities giving their own personal experiences with alcohol abuse, to inspire people. There's also a map that shows places you should avoid (bars, etc.) and events you can attend where you'll meet people also going on the same journey of sobriety.
How I built it
We brainstormed on Google Docs about what to include in our app. Then, we created a Google Slides with the app demo to create our actual app design.
Challenges we ran into
We had challenges involving originality, formatting, and working with the UI. We had to make changes to improve accessibility and make the app more user friendly.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We're proud of the multiple aspects of the app that we created to help people stay sober.
What I learned
We learned important lessons on teamwork and collaboration during stressful situations. We also learned about designing the multiple aspects of an app and making sure that it's usable by all audiences.
What's next for Steadfast Sobriety
We want to expand the reach of Steadfast Society so that people can share their progress on social media and connect with others that might be experiencing the same thing as them.
