Inspiration

As a college student, I have checked every floor in my dorm just to find out that every study room is unavailable. Especially on rain/snow days, I find it more convenient to study in the study rooms in dorms rather than walking to the libraries. I have spoken to my fellow peers and discovered that they face the same problem.

What it does

Staze allows students to save their time and effort finding a place to focus and work! Students can reserve the study rooms in their dorms ahead of time for studying or meeting for group projects.

How we built it

Staze was built using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Chrome Extension API.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into challenges updating our correlating time box with what the user submitted. We experimented with different things by using google sheets, google scripts, but found the best way was just to implement it straight into our website and frontend using JavaScript.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of all the features we were able to implement such as a start and end time, coloring all accurate boxes, and the name of who booked the room when hovering the correlating box. We were also proud that we were able to create a pretty looking front end with the time given.

What we learned

We learned HTML and CSS design strategies to make a seamless UI. We gained experience in debugging with JavaScript.

What's next for Staze

We hope to implement the rest of the dorms on campus into the website. A future improvement we could make is allowing other students to check whether the rooms are actually in use. When booked but not in use, students can override the original reservation.
